FAE and a trip to California

I finished reading FATE Accelerate Edition the other day. What a stellar little booklet that is for introducing new players to the FATE system! The writing is tight and chock full of examples, the art is awesome and inclusive, and the not-so-subtle references to popular media settings offer pre-built worlds to tell new stories in. I’m really glad I ordered two copies during the Kickstarter campaign in addition to the FATE Core book.

And now it turns out that I’ll be around for FATECon at Endgame in Oakland on August 10th!

I’m thinking I’ll probably revisit a Dresden game I had written a while back, as time is getting short and I need to get a game-plot actually submitted. That game ended up going really well, though I’ll need to refresh myself on Dresden-specific elements.

It’s funny, each time something new comes out that I get really excited about, I think to myself “This is it. I’m going to do everything in this system from now on.” It’s never true, which is good because I get to continuously learn from all the different games I read. That said, it’s in my vague future plans to write a setting book which may end up going with a particular system that I will need to immerse myself in for a while. But first, I have to finish revising Hyperreality and get through a few other projects first.
